With the holidays upon us, I am writing to send my best wishes to all in our community for a happy and healthy holiday season.
I know that with the new COVID-19 variant, omicron, spreading in our communities, for some of us the holidays are not going to be what we might have been expecting. But, with a little extra care and consideration, we can be with our closest loved ones and enjoy the holiday.
Also, realizing that many of us may be staying close to home over the holidays, I am sharing links to some virtual holiday events in our community and beyond to help the keep the festivities going.
If you’re looking for virtual holiday events, try one of these:
- Check out the SPLC Christmas and Holiday Celebration on Dec. 22
- If you’d like to listen to holiday music, check out these free YouTube videos with a collection of classic Christmas songs or traditional instrumental Christmas songs.
- Here’s a link to the African Canadian Heritage Association celebrating Kwanzaa with traditional drumming, singing and more
- For a New Year’s celebration, look out for updates coming from the City of Toronto on its special virtual event which will include live music and fireworks.
Please do stay connected with SPLC over the holidays and in the New Year. To find more programs check out our Seniors Active Living Centre or our weekly calendar. If you need help with connecting to these programs or finding the right one for you, call us at 416-493-3333.
As we all look ahead with hope for the New Year, on behalf of SPLC, I am sending you warm wishes for a healthy, happy holiday season.
