Keeping Safe - Home & Medication

MedicationMedications are vital in improving the health of older adults. However if used incorrectly they can be dangerous. Always have your healthcare professional describe what your medication does and how often it should be taken. You should ask about how any new medication will interact with what you are already taking.

Self Management Programs

Older adults suffering from chronic pain, chronic disease or diabetes can enroll in one of SPLC’s free six week self-management programs. These programs are planned with the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) and teach older adults how to deal with their symptoms and properly manage their medication.

The diabetes workshop provides information on how to monitor blood sugar, medication, nutrition, and, more. There is also a workshop on chronic pain and chronic disease which provides information on how to deal with discomfort and fatigue, as well as how to manage medication.
