When it comes to our mental health, this lockdown has been hard on many of us. While we can’t be together in person just yet, we hope that you are able to continue to virtually stay connected with loved ones and your support/ spiritual networks. Getting outside as often as possible for fresh air and walks in the neighbourhood can also be helpful for our mental health. Please remember that even though we may be alone right now, that doesn’t mean we can’t be connected!
To help keep the SPLC community connected, we have a busy calendar of virtual events on for the month of June. Keep reading to see what’s on.
Volunteer with us
SPLC is recruiting new volunteers! If you’re looking to connect and meet new people and share your time and skills, please join our Volunteer Information Session on May 20.
Volunteers play a key role in our community helping to ensure our vital programs continue to be available for seniors. Currently we are recruiting for various virtual roles including: Telephone Reassurance Caller, Virtual Teaching Instructor, Virtual Translator, Korean-speaking Community Health Promotion Program Volunteer, and more.
Join our Adult Day Programs
As the lockdown continues, we know that this is a difficult time, and many seniors may be feeling isolated. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please join us!
During the lockdown, Adult Day Program sessions are available virtually. These sessions are an opportunity for seniors to stay connected with one another through various activities such as virtual travel tours, singing, music appreciation, brain games, and discussions. Each program begins with a short exercise to help keep seniors moving.
