Looking for information about aging, health care, and other matters related to seniors during Seniors’ month in June? Look no further than St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre in Scarborough. St. Paul’s is a leader in the field of housing and senior care and offers an array of programs and services designed to promote independent living.
The theme this year for Seniors’ Month is Discover the Possibilities. St. Paul’s is celebrating the month with a host of programs and events that invite all to discover possibilities in health and safety, technology, entertainment, community engagement and intergenerational connections.
- June 5 - Bridlewood Mall’s Library Reading: St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre residents will be reading to children from area schools to celebrate Senior’s Month. St. Paul’s crafts group will also have items on display. This will be an enjoyable intergenerational activity that highlights the significance of Seniors’ Month.
- June 8 - Seniors’ Services Fair: There will be displays, information booths, dance, chorus, chorus and solo singing, and dinner. (This is a joint event with 12 agencies serving Chinese seniors.)
- June 10 - Tribute Big Bands: Jayco Productions and Janet Thorpe present the music of Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra.
- June 12 & 19 - S.A.L.T Volunteer Training: S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) is a partnership consisting of seniors in the community, law enforcement and government representatives and community partners. Its objectives are to identify crime prevention methods, legal education and personal safety strategies for seniors. SALT is having a volunteer traiining session for seniors who would like to get involved and make their community safer.
- Jun 27 & 28 - Computer Seminar: For the tech savvy or those who wish to be, there will be a computer seminar on File Downloading, CD Recording & Photo Uploading at St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre.
