St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre partners with Bridlewood Mall to host a day long celebration for Canada Day on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009. Canada Day~ Our Connected Country is an all ages event for the whole family. Guests will enjoy a barbecue, birthday cake, games, prizes, and activities. Among the festivities will be children’s entertainer, Jim Parker, the People’s Link Choir and a host of multicultural entertainment celebrating the spirit an diversity of Canada. A community art gallery will display the works of St. Paul’s clients and community members and children are invited to display their art work. A Kidz Zone with a Pizza Pizza Jumping Castle will be set up for children to enjoy along with games and prizes.
There is a strong focus on the involvement of youth in this year’s event. Students from L’Amoreaux Collegiate constructed and painted a giant wooden jigsaw puzzle in the shape of the Canadian flag measuring 14 x17 feet. Visitors will have a piece of the puzzle on which to sign or draw their experiences of Canada or state what Canada means to them. They will then place their piece into the puzzle to create the Canadian Flag.
Our Connected Country is the theme for this year’s Canada Day and illustrates how we are all united. Larry Burke, St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre Executive Director states, “Canada Day is an opportunity for us to celebrate our good fortune in being citizens of this great country. It gives us a day to appreciate the freedom and opportunities this country provides.”
Canada Day highlights the successful partnership between St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre and Bridlewood Mall. The two have jointly sponsored many events for the community at large. This is underscored by Mary Anne Hoyle, Retail Marketing Director, “We are pleased to host this annual event in partnership with our neighbours at St. Paul’s. We take great pride in celebrating our country’s birthday and in sharing the festivities with the Bridlewood community.”
