This week friends, clients, caregivers and community members of St. Paul's L'Amoreaux Centre received a letter from our new Executive Director, Diane Duncan. The letter is the launch of our new Direct Mail Fundraising Campaign to "Help Transform The Lives of Vulnerable Seniors". As a part of this campaign, St. Paul's L'Amoreaux Centre has committed to making 2012 the year we close some of the gaps vulnerable seniors experience when trying to access programs and services.
Why do this? We know housing, transportation and access to programs that keep people active have an impact on health and wellness, and therefore on independence
Why we need your help? St Paul’s is funded for many of our services by all levels of government and through grants, but we cannot meet the needs of all seniors in our community. A number of our programs have waiting lists because of limited funding; some of our clients cannot afford to attend our programs due to lack of transportation or because we must charge a fee in order to cover costs. We plan to bridge these gaps through fundraising.
How can you help? A donation to St Paul’s will enable seniors in our community to maintain their independence, participate more fully in their own lives and the life of the community, and to access services they need to support health and well-being.
This year, we are giving you the option to choose where your dollars will go:
Option 1: Transportation
We have a need to purchase a new bus that will be safer and more accessible to people using mobility aids. If you give to our transportation fund this will and allow us to bring more isolated and vulnerable seniors from the community to essential programs and services.
Option 2: Accessibility
Accessibility for people with disabilities is one of our main organizational commitments this year. With a building that is 30+ years old, we would like to remove structural barriers and open our communication methods to be more universally accessed. If you give to our accessibility fund, this will allow us to provide more programming and services to people with disabilities.
Option 3: Access to Programs and Services Fund
Finally, you can direct your money to a fund which we will use to support clients in financial need. If you give to our programs and services fund, you will be providing essential programming to low income seniors who could not otherwise attend.
