Zahra Abdille was the first Nurse Practitioner with our Geriatric Assessment and Intervention Network (GAIN) community team. As one of the first members of our team, she became highly regarded for her clinical skills and kind, gentle nature. November 22, 2000 was recognized as National Housing Strategy Day. Events include raising awareness about housing and focusing on the needs of individual communities (The Homless Hub). According to a 2014 report by the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP), statistics show that 12% of seniors live in poverty. That percentage amounts to approximately 600, 000 people, most of whom are seniors living alone and struggling financially.How SALT Safety Walks Can Prevent Crimes

Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT), is a partnership of seniors in the community, Toronto Police 42 Division and St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre. SALT is a community volunteer organization developed to meet the needs of seniors in Scarborough by addressing their crime and safety concerns.- ‹‹ Previous
