SPLC Community Update

Keeping You Connected

Posted on Jul 21, 2020 (Updated: Oct 9, 2020)

Mobile Testing at SPLC

We are grateful for the Scarborough Health Network for bringing a dedicated Pop-Up COVID-19 Assessment Centre to SPLC’s buildings so that residents, tenants, and staff can choose to be tested.covid-19 testing information

While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at our buildings, this is an opportunity for testing to be done to ensure the continued safety and wellbeing of our community. Testing is important to preventing spread of the virus because even people who are asymptomatic can spread COVID-19.

This opportunity for testing will also help build confidence among the SPLC community for the reopening of on-site programs and services.

SPLC will be sharing instructions with residents, tenants, and staff on how to get tested at the pop-up testing centre.

SPLC Virtual Walk

Thank you to everyone who participated in the SPLC Virtual Walk for Seniors! While we missed our big in-person walk through the community this year, we hope that this year’s virtual walk encouraged everyone to get active.

Funds raised from the walk will help SPLC continue delivering critical supports to seniors. Throughout the pandemic our teams have developed creative ways to reach out to seniors to keep them healthy and active, and we created new programs, too. All of this has been offered free to seniors and caregivers.

Here’s a photo of SPLC’s lead for Information Management and Development Tony Lee on his walk and a photo from a board member, Ching Huang’s family on a socially distant hike.

New Virtual Programs

As our community moves into different phases of the pandemic, SPLC is preparing for the reopening of certain programs and services to be delivered in-person. However, as COVID-19 continues to spread in communities across Ontario, we must remain vigilant and prioritize the health and safety of the seniors we support, as well as SPLC staff and volunteers. SPLC will notify its community when program changes are made.

Recognizing the need and importance of programs for seniors, SPLC has added a series of new virtual programs to our current roster of programs and services.
