Re: Press Release
October 2016 is Ontario Community Support Association (OCSA) Support Month. This month is of public interest as it is intended to celebrate service achievements and increase public awareness of what community support services are and why they are an important part of the health care system.
St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre has served 88,566 nutritious meals in the Toronto area. Our Meals on Wheels (MOW) Program prepares nutritious and diverse foods to meet the needs of our diverse clientele. Our volunteers, many of whom are seniors, deliver meals. This allows seniors to spend their time engaging in meaningful activities and gives them a sense of purpose and fulfillment at a time when isolation and loneliness among seniors is growing in Canada.
Community Support Month will follow a schedule that will feature a diverse range of community support services such as, Meals on Wheels Week, which we will celebrate from October 2nd – 8th and Client Intervention and Assistance Day on October 12th.
On October 8, we will be joined by MPP Soo Wong who will deliver a Meals on Wheels meal. We will profile the diverse meals we deliver, demonstrating the benefits of this service to recipients, and the rewarding experience volunteers gain through service and delivery. We'll share MPP Soo Wong's first-hand experience and why Meals on Wheels is a valuable service to seniors everywhere.
We will also profile our Addiction Supportive Housing (ASH) and Addiction Support Program (ASP).
Share your service achievement stories online with the hashtag #CommunitySupportStories.
