Helping Seniors Access Healthy Food

SPLC Grocery Shopping and Medication Delivery Services program

Posted on Jun 17, 2021 (Updated: Nov 11, 2021)

Getting groceries and meals to your door has never been easier.

To help seniors in our community, Senior Persons Living Connected (SPLC) has programs to help seniors get healthy food.

Meals on Wheels

With Meals on Wheels, we take care of the grocery shopping – and the meal preparation for you! Prepared fresh daily, we deliver nutritious hot or frozen meals right to your door. Our options for meals are culturally diverse, including authentic Asian meals. We can also meet most needs for special diets.

Hot meals, which include soup, an entrée and a dessert costs $7.50/meal. Frozen meals are sold in packages for $38.50, which includes five entrees and five soups or desserts.

Our popular Meals on Wheels program has expanded to support seniors living between Markham Road and Leslie Street; and north of Eglinton Avenue up to Denison Street in Markham. Of course, Meals on Wheels is available for those living at the Terrace and Centre.

Our delivery staff follow health and safety protocols to ensure theirs and the senior’s safety.

To register for SPLC’s Meals on Wheels service or to get more information, please call 416-493-3333 extension 285 or email info@splc.ca.

My parents used to enjoy meeting up with friends for Dim Sum but they can’t do that anymore. The restaurant they used to go to has closed and they are away from their friends,” said one caregiver about her parents who now receive Meals on Wheels. “The visit from their Meals on Wheels driver is something that brightens their day. “They look forward to seeing him. He’s so caring and patient with my parents. I don’t know what we would do without Meals on the Wheels.

The Vegetable and Fruit order came, and it was like Christmas. Please thank all who made this possible. I'm so touched by how wonderful the food is. The quality and quantity is spectacular. I don't think I could have got such great fresh vegetables and fruit on my own. As I opened each of the 3 boxes it was surprise of discovery and gratitude of what was in each one. Especially being a senior at risk right now to go out and shop. So, thank you for having this service and source.
